Lokaksema was actually from Gandhara, and area just north of India. He was a monk and was born around 147 CE. He is the earliest known monk to have translated the Mahayana Sutras into the Chinese language. His name means "welfare in the world." Most of his work and teaching happened in China.

Gautama Buddha, is also known as Siddhartha Gautama, and also just as the Buddha. He is the founder of this religion. Some refer to him as the "enlightened one." He is the primary figure in Buddhism.
Someone who engages in the pursuit to just release himself or herself from all suffering known to man is on the path of Bodhisattva. This is not necessarily just one person, there are many of them. Their goal is to achieve omniscient Buddhahood.
